Subject: [mfpi] run for the environment
Something not so ordinary happened yesterday...about 15 mountaineers including some members of the philippine everest team run with father robert reyes yesterday from denr to mendiola. at denr, environmental activists including the mountaineers gave a gift of a PAROL --kulay black nga lang to Mike Defensor,DENR Chief.Merry black christmas to someone who doesn't believe all that logging caused the enormous damage in Quezon!
Members of some other environmental groups who were there couldn't run with the mountaineers--kasi malakas daw sila mag yosi, so di nila kaya sumabay..so yung mga mountaineers lang tumakbo with the running priest. a banner saying "Wakasan na ang Pang-aabuso sa Kalikasan" was carried by the group along quezon avenue to the mendiola bridge where Fr. Robert said mass for the government,big business, the everst team, mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts and the filipino people. the police provided fr. robert's altar table and a stiff table cloth for aesthtic purposes. san daw nakuha ng mga pulis ang tela? eh meron lang daw sila nun...at naki- communion din ang mga pulis.Fr Robert seemed popular with the police along quezon avenue.
Since the announcement for a picket in front of the denr was announced a bit too suddenly, no campaign was made through several concerned egroups.it would have been great to see the firefly brigade,all mountaineers chop suey or mfpi,mga pinoy adventure racers, just about anyone who loves the outdoors. let's say we want to put a stop to all the logging and mining going on. no matter your political belief, the time to say you want the mountains and the outdoors protected is now. I'm sure may ilang mga kampanya pa...sana maraming sumali sa susunod. Dala kayo bike,mag running shoes,mag picket at magalit na rin kayo sa mga abusado--syempre lahat tayo yun.
